This is my darling niece. She just turned 18 last week. So crazy she will be graduating this year. We have been documenting her senior year with photo shoots of each season. We haven’t done winter yet because it has been so darn cold around here, but we have fun plans for the winter session. Isn’t she beautiful?
One of the fun things we do on Northern Living is an “On the Hunt” segment. This week we were determined to find a foundation that doesn’t break the bank. See our results here.
I have to admit I am not very good in the kitchen, so when I make something that everyone loves I have to document it. The pork carnitas were so easy to make and EVERYONE at them.
1 boneless pork roast
1 1/2 cup water
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 tsp. ground cumin
1 sliced onion
Preheat oven to 300. Put the roast in a baking dish. Combine all other ingredients on the stove and bring to boil. Squeeze in lime juice and orange juice. Save orange halves. Pour over roast and cook in oven for 2.5-3 hours till falls apart.
Remove from oven and shred. Pour the leftover juice liquid mixture over the shredded meat for extra flavor.
Serve on tortillas.
When we sold our home last April our plan was to build a new home. We have struggled to find a lot that we love and started focusing on finding a home that we love. There has always been this one house in our old neighborhood that we have just adored. It is timeless, however it was built in the 80s and is in need of major updating. It came on the market right after we sold our home.
My two favorite shows are Fixer Upper and Property Brothers. I think that is why I’m leaning toward a home I love that I can make my own. I really wish the Property Brothers would come here and give me some advice — haha! I worry that my remodel would be more like the show Renovation Realities and would be a complete disaster.
I’m currently putting together two Pinterest boards. One for the build and one for the remodel. What advice do you have? Build or buy?
Another one of my loves/hobbies is design. This darling print I created can be downloaded for FREE! Print it as a 5×7 or larger if you’d like and stick it in a cute frame. Perfect for Valentines Day decor or leave it up all year.
It’s mid-January. Snow is on the ground. It’s 30 degrees out. And I’m thinking about SPRING! I love the snow during the holidays, but once January hits I’m ready for sunshine, shorts and trips to the park.
So today, I’m flipping through the new Nordstrom catalog and reminding myself that warm weather is just around the corner.
I’m sharing a few of my favorites that I’m adding to my wish list…
I love everything about this dress! It really could be worn in any season. The color is the perfect shade of blue. The length is right where it needs to be. I love the pleats and belt. This would be perfect for an upcoming company dinner.
Which dress is your favorite? I adore the two middle dresses. So, so cute!
I’ll add all four of these shoes to my list!
I need these blue shoes! Love the color blue — in every shade! Pair these with some jeans and a dressy shirt and you are set.
Hope you enjoyed this sneak peak at SPRING! Just remember it will be here before we know it!

In June of last year, Joan Dunn and I started Northern Living, a lifestyle show that airs every Monday on standard.net and on our ROKU channel. It is seriously so much fun. We feature all the amazing things happening in Northern Utah and have met some incredible people along the way. We are looking forward to 2016 when we will also start writing and doing video for Wasatch View magazine. You can watch this week’s show here: Northern Living January 11, 2016.
My name is Angie. Welcome to my blog!
I am a wife. A mother to 6 amazing boys, ranging from ages 17 to 3. A journalist at the Standard Examiner and host on a lifestyle show called Northern Living on standard.net.
My boys are my #1. When I am not busy keeping up with their school work, sports, etc. I enjoy writing, photography, fashion, graphic design, home decorating and shopping – which is exactly what you will see on this blog. A little bit of everything.
We sold our home last April and are currently looking to build or buy within the same neighborhood/community. It’s been an exciting journey so far and now we just need to make a decision on what to do.
